The person behind exiztence.net and this blog/travelogue, is me, Mikael Helcl. I am a guy with 22 years behind me, from Kristiansand, on the south coast of Norway. My ancestors on my mother’s side came from Czechoslovakia, hence my surname, which apparently is really hard for Norwegians to pronounce. I must admit I struggled a bit myself, when I was younger that is.

So far, I have finished my years at school, studied photojournalism for a while, and spent all possible time travelling. I am currently living in Bodø, in the northern part of Norway, practising to become and air traffic controller. A strange and I guess weird profession, but it’s really amazing, and I love it!
