Big in Japan?
I have longed to go to Japan for quite some time now. Exactly why, I can’t seem to be able to answer. A couple of years ago I discovered the works of a fantastic japanese author, Haruki Murakami. I find his writing style quite rare. He writes in a way that really catches the readers attention, and many, if not all his books are based on a merge between everyday-Japan and a fantasy-world. The way he describes people, buildings, cities and nature has made me want to go see for myself.
At the moment I haven’t got the time, nor the money, to go, but I came over this article over at matadorabroad.com; 10 Japanese Customs You Must Know Before a Trip to Japan.
The featured tips consist of:
Adressing someone, respect
Table manners
No tipping
Chopsticks
Thresholds
Masks
Conformity
Bathing
Speaking English
Safety
Useful information I guess, and it never hurts to prepare yourself a little before going somewhere, but I’ve experienced that wherever you are; a humble and friendly smile solves everything. At least almost.
Take a hike over to matadorabroad.com/10-japanese-customs-you-must-know-before-a-trip-to-japan/ to read the rest, and you’ve learned something new today as well. When your finished, go buy The Wild Sheep Chase of Murakami, boil up some noodles and simply enjoy your weekend!
